One of the premier high school football head coaching jobs in the state of Florida was officially announced as open on Friday afternoon.
Miami Northwestern High School’s official Instagram page announced that they are in search for a new varsity head football coach for the 2026-27 school year. The Bulls are coming off falling to Jacksonville Raines, 23-22, in the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Class 3A state championship last week at Pitbull Stadium.
That means the school will not be promoting Jaquatin Victrum, who was the interim head coach for Miami Northwestern during the 2025 season, to the permanent position. Victrum led the team to a state championship appearance in his lone season at the helm, but many in South Florida saw disappointment in the ending of the Bulls’ campaign in the loss to the Vikings, a team they defeated 41-0 for the 3A crown in 2024 under then-head coach Teddy Bridgewater.
The former Bulls’ lead man had been spotted in attendance at the 3A state title rematch between Northwestern and Raines.
This is not a rarity Bridgewater to step out and see his old ball club as he was at Northwestern’s playoff win over Orlando Bishop Moore, giving high fives to the players after the contest to congratulate them on the victory.Â
Bridgewater, who currently plays quarterback for the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers, was under a suspension by the school for the 2025-26 school year due to the allegations of providing impermissible benefits to his players.
Whomever takes on the job at this juncture could potentially inherit one of the most talented rosters in the Sunshine State with the pieces the program has returning. Among the slated players that should be returning back to the Bulls are 2027 four-star wide receiver Nick Lennear, 2028 four-star quarterback Neimann Lawrence, 2027 three-star safety Amari Oquendo (FIU commit).
Northwestern under Victrum finished the 2025 season with a 14-1 record and ranked No. 4 in Florida, according to the final Florida Rivals High School Team Rankings, according to the Massey Ratings.
