It’s game day, and No. 7 Texas A&M (11-1, 7-0 SEC) is set to host Miami (10-2) in the first round of the College Football Playoff, which is the first appearance for both programs, who aren’t looking to end the season any time soon. This week, the focus has been on winning the line-of-scrimmage battle, which will likely determine the outcome.

On offense, this could turn into a quarterback duel, with Marcel Reed and Carson Beck both finishing the season with 25 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Reed has the edge as a runner, but Beck is more experienced and has thrived in a clean pocket.

Well, that will be the key, and Texas A&M star edge Cashius Howell, who finished the regular season with 11.5 sacks and 41 pressures, did not have his best game against Texas, but he needs to rebound in a big way against the Hurricanes to give the Aggies a shot.

Still, this will all come down to Marcel Reed’s play in the pocket, needing to complete passes in tight windows, and get the ball out of his hands much quicker. Even moreso, transfer wide receivers KC Concepcion and Mario Craver, who combined for over 1,700 yards and 13 touchdowns, need to make big plays down the field.
