TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A warm start to the new season and staying warm for Christmas Week.
🥶Waking up chilly:
The official start to winter is today at 10:03 a.m. and it certainly feels like it this morning. Temperatures in the Big Bend and South Georgia are in the 30s and 40s. Be sure to grab the jacket as you head out the door for church and that last minute holiday shopping.

The sunglasses and shorts will be needed this afternoon. High pressure will hold on this afternoon, but slowly break down as a weak cold front approaches the area. There will be a few clouds to the northwest from the cold front, but no showers are expected with this. Winds will become breezy. Thermometers will reach the low 70s this afternoon inland and 60s along the Gulf coast.
🍃Breezy Monday:
A light breeze will be left behind from Sunday’s front as we start Christmas Week. As you head out the door Monday morning for the holiday errands, temperatures will not be as chilly in the mid 40s and clear. Mostly sunny in the afternoon with highs mild in the upper 60s to low 70s. Winds east to northeast between 10 and 20 mph.
🎅Warm through Christmas Day:
High pressure will build back in Tuesday and Christmas Eve. The high will be strong for late December leading to unusually warm weather through the holiday.
Mostly sunny skies with highs in the mid 70s. The record high for Christmas Day is 82, set back in 2016. In 2015 was also near-record with a high of 81. We will not be quite that warm, but certainly within a few degrees of the record.
Staying warm and dry the weekend after the holiday as well.
