Two 13-year-olds were arrested this week in Cape Coral in connection with a series of car burglaries and for allegedly stealing a vehicle and guns, authorities said.

The Cape Coral Police Department said officers responded to several reports between Oct. 10 and Oct. 12 of overnight vehicle burglaries in several neighborhoods, in which the suspect took various personal items such as credit cards and handguns.

Police also found that the suspects had stolen a sedan from a driveway and driven it to McDonald’s and a gas station before it was later found abandoned in the city.

Detectives said surveillance video showed the teens entering multiple vehicles in the middle of the night.

The 13-year-old suspects – who NBC6 won’t identify because they are minors – were arrested at their respective homes on Sunday.

Detectives recovered two firearms and matched them to the ones that were stolen earlier that weekend.

They face multiple charges, including grand theft of a motor vehicle, armed burglary, grand theft of a firearm, and petit theft.
