TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – After several days of technical challenges, WCTV Eyewitness News is resuming normal operations. Our team is grateful for the patience of viewers across north Florida and south Georgia as crews worked to solve our issues.
As with any other story, WCTV wants to share more details about the interruptions.
Late Wednesday night, we experienced a massive hardware failure. The outage impacted many of the programs and services needed to produce a traditional newscast. During the time our station was affected, our team used streaming technology to broadcast the latest information from Tallahassee and our region from our digital desk. Those newscasts were streamed through our WCTV app, social media pages, and over the air.
Gray Media, WCTV’s parent company, was instrumental in helping teams fix the widespread problems. Since Thursday, there have been dozens of engineers from across the company working to get us back online.
WCTV is proud of the work of our team, and we look forward to continuing to serve our community.
