Barry Manilow, the beloved singer and songwriter, announced Monday morning that doctors discovered a stage one cancerous tumor on his left lung. Manilow will undergo surgery to remove it, but he will not need chemotherapy or radiation.

The news has led to the rescheduling of his January shows at Hertz Arena to March, leaving fans both concerned and hopeful.

“I was a fan of his when I was a young child and but didn’t really pay much attention to him. And then roughly two months ago, I saw him play in Detroit, and he just blew my mind. He owned the crowd. He was really put on an amazing show,” one fan said.

Another fan expressed their emotions, “I’m not sad because they changed the concert, but I’m sad that he got diagnosed.”

Fans are hopeful for Manilow’s recovery and look forward to his return.

“He’s in his 80s, but he’s traveling around the country doing these things, very strong individual. So my hopes are that he can pull through and do okay,” a fan said.

“I hope I can see him in March when he comes back, and then, God bless him,” added another.

“All I can say is he made good work, and I hope he does better. I hope he continues to make good work,” a supporter shared.

Manilow’s new concert dates at Hertz Arena are scheduled for March 16 and 17. Fans are eager to see him back on stage and are sending their best wishes for his recovery.
