Three people were taken into custody on Monday morning in Davie after being accused of having a vehicle with a stolen license plate and striking an officer, police said.
According to Davie Police, at around midnight, officers arrived in the area of Davie Road and Reese Road after receiving reports of a vehicle with a stolen plate.
When officers went up to the vehicle, the driver attempted to flee and struck the officer, which led him to fire his weapon.
The officer was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
A pursuit then ensued, and officers, with help from deputies with the Broward Sheriff’s Office, were eventually able to stop the vehicle near Hollywood Boulevard, near the Turnpike.
Police said two people inside the car were taken into custody, while a third person fled on foot, but was eventually taken into custody by a Davie K-9 unit and help from Hollywood Police.
No one was injured after the officer fired his weapon.
The officer was placed on leave, and the investigation is expected to be taken over by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, which is standard whenever there is a police-involved shooting.
