TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – An ordinary school day turned into an unforgettable celebration for one Big Bend teacher.
WCTV, along with Addition Financial, surprised Alexis Carswell, a kindergarten teacher at Gilchrist Elementary, as the station wrapped up the year by honoring its December Teacher of the Month.
From the moment the WCTV team walked into the classroom, the excitement was impossible to miss.
Smiles filled the room, energy was high, and the holiday spirit was in full swing.
Carswell fully embraced the festive fun, dressed head-to-toe in Grinch attire while continuing to inspire her students.
Known for bringing creativity, dedication, and heart into her classroom, Carswell works daily to make learning both meaningful and joyful for her young students.
“Every day is different. They are so fun, and they are so crazy, and I really do pour my heart into it,” Carswell said. “We all do, and we spend a lot of money and a lot of time, so it’s just nice to get some recognition.”
Carswell said her goal is simple: she hopes every student leaves her classroom with a love for school and a lifelong love of learning.
