PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (CBS12) — Big news for Port St. Lucie, professional soccer kicking off! City leaders just approved plans for a city-owned stadium at Walton Road and U.S. 1, which will become home to a United Soccer League (USL) team.
The 6,000-seat multi-use venue will host men’s and women’s soccer matches, along with concerts and festivals in the off-season.
The developer, Ebenezer Holdings, is funding the project and will be reimbursed through CRA (Community Redevelopment Agency) revenue, meaning no taxpayer dollars up front.
The stadium also marks a major move east, bringing new life to that side of the city with restaurants, shops, hotels, and housing expected to follow as part of Port St. Lucie’s long-term Walton & One master plan.
“I’m so excited for this day,” said Mayor Shannon Martin. “This is going to be the catalyst for all the amazing things to come under that master plan that we approved years ago.”
City leaders said the stadium will be a game changer for culture, tourism, and economic growth, boosting jobs and creating new opportunities across the Treasure Coast.
The team, known for now as the Port St. Lucie Sports Club, is expected to kick off its first season in 2027, giving fans a new local team to cheer for and putting Port St. Lucie on the professional sports map.
