Juliet Radich doesn’t know what it is like to lose.

The Cardinal Gibbons senior went four years at the school without losing a 1-meter springboard diving event, a streak that spanned nearly 40 meets.

Only a hurricane in her freshman year prevented her from winning four straight state diving championships. Hurricane Nicole forced the competition to be moved back a week and Radich was already slated to compete in an international meet in Ireland where she won the 10-meter platform.

Radich captured her third straight 2A diving championship with 527.40 points at Florida Aquatics Swimming and Training Center (FAST) in Ocala. She won in her sophomore year with a total of 520.55 and last year (517.05).

She also set a new personal mark of 556.25 in winning the regional championship this year. Her previous best before then was 544.25 set as a freshman at the regional competition.

“I didn’t necessarily feel any pressure this year,” Radich said. “I definitely felt supported by my coaches and I just wanted to go out there and have fun for my last meet. I was excited, and I had changed my dives after districts and I felt more confident with my list.”

Now she has her sights set on diving at the University of North Carolina. Radich also finished second in the country on the 10-meter platform last year and has captured four Junior National titles overall.

“I’m looking forward to the seasons,” Radich said. “Diving is indoors, so I am not worried about that part. My parents are from New York, so I go up (north) a lot. I don’t mind the cold at all, so I think I’ll be okay.”

She committed to attend the University of North Carolina a year ago. Radich said she is looking forward to competing in college.

“I am super excited,” Radich said. “It’s going to be a lot of fun. I am going to stay in communication with my college coach and we’ll figure out when I am going to go up there in the summer and start training.”
