The Florida State Seminoles are getting set to add quite a bit of talent to its roster through the transfer portal. With Randy Pittman Jr. and Landen Thomas hitting leaving the program, tight end has become a big need.

There is a familiar name being linked the FSU at the position. According to Zach Blostein of Noles247, UCF tight end Kylan Fox is could be a focal point.

“A name to know is UCF tight end transfer Kylan Fox. He nearly committed to FSU back in the 2024 class but elected to pledge to UCF and then Knights head coach Gus Malzahn instead. He has a strong relationship with Mike Norvell, tight ends coach Chris Thomsen and Malzahn, now FSU’s offensive coordinator. Fox, who stands at 6-foot-4, 229-pounds, caught 16 passes for 137 yards and a touchdown for UCF in 2025. I believe Fox and FSU share mutual interest — but FSU also has other options they’re interested in at the position.”

The Seminoles and their pursuit of Fox started back in July of 2021 when he took his first unofficial visit to Tallahassee. He was extended an offer from them in August of 2022, and he made an unofficial visit that October. In 2023, Fox took three more unofficial trips to Florida State.

FSU saw minimal production from the tight end spot in 2025. The aforementioned Pittman led the group with 208 yards and two touchdowns. As far as the rest of the room, no player had more that 51 yards.

Blue-chip prospect Xavier Tiller and three-star Corbyn Fordham were signed to the 2026 class, and will undoubtedly be in the mix for playing time with the position being so thin for the Seminoles. 2025 blue-chip recruit Chase Loftin will also be a factor. However, there’s certainly room for more talent to be added at the position.

With his ties to the staff, Fox will consider Florida State despite other programs making their case. Time will tell if that’s enough to get him to come aboard.
