TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCJB) – Republican state lawmakers say property tax reform is a priority on their agenda for the new legislative session in January.
Eight proposals are going through committee, ranging from complete elimination of property taxes to a reduction.
House Judiciary Committee Chair Chuck Brannan, who represents North Central Florida, said he’s watching all the plans.
“The House felt like time is short and that we need to get started on that. So that’s where we are. So I look for something to be on the ballot. What it’s going to be at this point, I can’t tell you. I look for some kind of, I support some type of reduction, obviously,” said Brannan.
The session begins on Jan. 13.
County and city government officials around Florida have expressed concerns about the budget impact.
