OAKLAND PARK, Fla. (CBS12) — A 37-year-old Oakland Park man is in custody after deputies found him bleeding from self-inflicted wounds next to a woman fatally stabbed inside a home early Tuesday morning, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said they responded around 12:56 a.m. to a disturbance on Northeast 41st Street. Inside the residence, they discovered a woman suffering from multiple stab wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
The suspect, identified as Mario Alejandro Ramirez, was found injured and struggling with deputies, who worked to stop his bleeding while taking him into custody, according to the news release. Ramirez was transported to Broward Health Medical Center for treatment and now faces one count of second-degree murder.
