For Clay Today

CLAY COUNTY- As Jacksonville and surrounding counties prepare for the biggest party night of the year, the risk of impaired driving remains a critical concern.

To combat this, Chuck and Eddie Farah, senior partners at Farah & Farah, are launching their 10th annual New Year’s Eve Safe Ride Home program. The opportunity will provide thousands of free Uber and taxi rides to residents across Florida and Georgia.

With New Year’s Eve historically seeing higher crash rates than any other holiday, the law firm is offering $50 worth of Uber and taxi credits to help partygoers get home safely. Vouchers can be used from Dec. 31 at 6 p.m. to Jan. 1 at 6 a.m.

The Safe Ride Home Program began in Jacksonville in 2015, and has expanded to include St. Augustine, Savannah, Ft. Myers and Tampa. Since its inception, the program has given away more than 16,000 rides.

In Clay County, Middleburg and Orange Park are included on this year’s list of approved pick up and drop off locations. In addition to Uber, participating cab companies are zTrip for Jacksonville and Clean Taxi for St. Augustine. Residents do not need a voucher for a taxi but will need to call and let the driver know you are with the program.

Clean Taxi can be reached at (904) 808-9995 and zTrip at (904) 222-2222.
