Investigation continuing after body found near Midpoint Bridge

A Lee County Sheriff’s Office death investigation that began Sunday after a body was recovered in waters north of the Midpoint Bridge is continuing.

According to LCSO officials, the Sheriff’s Office responded to a boater “who located a deceased person in the water north of the Midpoint Bridge” around 1:15 p.m.

LCSO officials told The Breeze via email “this is a non-suspicious death investigation, as there are no signs of foul play.”

Officials said detectives will work the Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the cause of death.
