FSU reserve offensive lineman Lucas Simmons is planning to enter the transfer portal when it opens on Jan. 2, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett.
Simmons, who is from Stockholm, Sweden, spent three seasons with the Seminoles and played in all 24 games over the past two seasons, with the majority of his work coming on special teams. He will have two seasons of eligibility at his next stop after redshirting in 2023.
He was a major piece of FSU’s 2023 recruiting class and one of the top offensive linemen that Mike Norvell has signed. He was ranked as the No. 130 overall player and the No. 13 offensive tackle in the 247Sports composite. Of FSU’s 10 highest-rated signees in 2023, Blake Nichelson, Samuel Singleton Jr., and KJ Sampson are the only three still with the Seminoles ahead of the 2026 season.
Simmons is the 28th FSU player overall and the third offensive lineman to announce they will be entering the portal. Former blue-chip recruits Mario Nash Jr. and Manasse Itete are also leaving the program after serving in reserve roles. The Seminoles are expected to be in the market for several starting offensive linemen in the portal when it opens, as they will have to replace all five starters from a season ago.
