As of Tuesday evening, the rescue said Frosty remains in critical condition with sepsis.

The other nine puppies and two adult dogs are recovering from parvovirus, a highly contagious and often deadly disease. Rescuers said the dogs are expected to be ready for parvo vaccinations on Friday.

The dogs were found on the morning of Friday, Dec. 19, at Taylor Park. Officials said nine puppies were in a plastic storage bin while the two adult dogs were roaming nearby. A tenth puppy, later named Frosty, was found two days later in worse condition than the others.

“They literally were on death’s doorstep,” Jamie McKnight, who runs Pawlicious Poochie Pet Rescue, said.

Veterinarians also discovered last week that Frosty has a severely broken leg, an injury that cannot be addressed until he stabilizes.

“We’re doing everything we can,” McKnight said. “Whatever it takes to save him, that’s what we’re doing.”

Pawlicious Poochie Pet Rescue partnered with Skyway Animal Hospital to take in all twelve dogs.
