<\/p>\nA historically significant church in St. Petersburg is set to be transformed into a workforce housing development.<\/p>\n
The former Pinellas Vietnamese Church of the Nazarene, which operated for more than 70 years, will be redeveloped into 20 studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom units, measuring about 400 to 1,000 square feet each.<\/p>\n

Most of the apartments would be reserved for tenants earning up to 80 percent of the area median income; according to St. Petersburg records<\/a>, that would be capped at $83,450 annually for a four-person household. Communal amenities will include a fenced-in dog park, bicycle storage stations, and library. Residents would also have access to 40 surface parking spots, exactly two per unit.<\/p>\n Joshua and Danielle Neitz, two local developers, purchased the church and its parking lot for $1.325 million earlier this year. They refer to the 1950s-era church as a \u201cfortress\u201d and have partnered with Fraze Design to preserve the building\u2019s structural elements, including its 25-foot-high ceilings.<\/p>\n St. Pete Rising<\/a> notes that there will also be various exterior refreshments, such as new windows and roof work, to further reinforce the building.
