MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. \u2014 A nurse was arrested Tuesday after authorities said she assaulted a coworker, damaged property, and resisted law enforcement at an assisted living facility in Miami-Dade. <\/p>\n
The Miami-Dade Sheriff\u2019s Office identified the suspect as 29-year-old Blanca Belinda Rivera-Lopez. <\/p>\n
Jail records show Rivera-Lopez is facing multiple charges, including grand theft, battery, criminal mischief, resisting an officer without violence, and two counts of assault on a first responder.<\/p>\n
Her arrest report states that the incident occurred at Norita Adult Family Care, located at 11971 SW 118 St., in The Crossings area of Miami-Dade County. <\/p>\n
Deputies responded around 9:15 a.m. to reports of an altercation between two employees at the facility when they countered Rivera-Lopez walking from the scene, appearing agitated and yelling incoherently.<\/p>\n
According to the report, Rivera-Lopez initially refused to comply with deputies\u2019 orders and got into a fighting stance. Authorities said she was then tased after allegedly attempting to hit one of the deputies and was later restrained with the assistance of additional officers.<\/p>\n
Investigators said the confrontation began as an argument with a coworker.<\/p>\n
They said Rivera-Lopez allegedly struck her coworker on the head with a shoe, punched her in the face, and grabbed her ankle, causing the victim to fall and injure her knee. <\/p>\n
She then damaged property inside the facility, including two televisions and a photo frame, and took the victim\u2019s cellphone, which was later recovered by deputies, the report stated. <\/p>\n
A motive for the attack is unclear at this time. <\/p>\n
Jail records show Rivera-Lopez is being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where her bond was listed as \u201cto be set.\u201d <\/p>\n
