FORT LAUDERDALE, FL \u2014 Freda\u2019s Dominican Cuisine is preparing to open a new fast-casual Dominican restaurant at 6868 Power Line Road in Fort Lauderdale<\/a>, FL 33309,<\/a> targeting a mid-to-late February debut. <\/p>\n

Partner Ruddy Sime told Business Debut the opening timeline reflects construction delays, but the team is focused on getting everything right before welcoming guests.<\/p>\n

What to Expect<\/p>\n

Freda\u2019s Dominican Cuisine is designed as a quick-serve, fast-casual restaurant tailored to the surrounding industrial and growing residential area. Guests will move through a steam-table line, selecting prepared dishes served by staff, then dine in or take meals to go.<\/p>\n

The setup is intended to accommodate lunch crowds looking for a faster option than traditional sit-down dining. Sime said customers should expect to be in and out within 30 to 45 minutes, making it well suited for nearby workers and residents with limited time.<\/p>\n

Menu and Vision<\/p>\n

The menu centers on traditional Dominican cuisine, with a wide variety of options available daily. Expect staples such as rice and beans alongside proteins, including chicken, beef, pork, oxtail, goat, and ribs, as well as seafood selections. The lineup also includes sides like sweet plantains, yuca, and salads.<\/p>\n

In addition to hot meals, the restaurant will offer natural juices and a bakery case with pastries. Pricing is structured by item rather than a flat buffet fee, with most meals designed to remain under $20, Sime told Business Debut.<\/p>\n

Family-Owned Business<\/p>\n

Freda\u2019s Dominican Cuisine is a family-run concept rooted in Dominican heritage. Sime said the business is led day to day by his wife, Rosmery Nunez, who brings years of experience operating fast-casual Dominican restaurants in New York.<\/p>\n

Nunez previously helped grow her family\u2019s restaurant from a single location into multiple storefronts before the couple opened their own restaurant in Queens. Sime said her background also extends to designing the Fort Lauderdale space, from layout to finishes.<\/p>\n

The restaurant is named in honor of Nunez\u2019s grandmother, whose love of cooking and feeding family inspired the concept. Sime described the project as a shared family effort built around tradition, food, and hospitality.<\/p>\n

Opening Timeline<\/p>\n

The team is targeting a mid-to-late February opening.<\/p>\n

Hours<\/p>\n

Initial hours are expected to be 10 a.m. \u2014 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday, with Sundays closed. <\/p>\n

The restaurant plans to expand hours to 6 a.m. \u2014 7 p.m. after the first one to two months to add breakfast service. Hours are subject to change.<\/p>\n
