The No. 2 Miami<\/a> Hurricanes entered Friday night\u2019s Week 8 showdown with the Louisville Cardinals unbeaten and widely regarded as one of the top teams in the country.<\/p>\n

However, on its home field, Miami fell 24-21 in a major upset \u2014 a result that shook not only the Top 25 rankings but also the ACC standings, as Louisville now sits above the Hurricanes in the conference.<\/p>\n

Miami quarterback Carson Beck had his most mistake-filled game since transferring to the program this past offseason. He completed 25 of 35 passes for 271 yards but threw zero touchdowns and four interceptions \u2014 not all of which were solely his fault.<\/p>\n

Still, Beck\u2019s postgame comments stirred controversy. When asked about his final interception, Beck appeared to place blame on a teammate for running the wrong route, rather than taking full responsibility himself. Fans interpreted his remarks as throwing his teammate under the bus while deflecting blame away from himself.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn that last interception, were you not expecting that defender to be there?\u201d a reporter asked.<\/p>\n

Beck responded: \u201cI mean, we have a perfect play for it. We just had a miscommunication with that route and what we were doing. So he just ran the route wrong, and I went to throw because we were hot off a pressure and he made a good play on it, but it definitely didn\u2019t help that we ran the wrong play.\u201d<\/p>\n

“He\u2019s had a bad attitude and exhibited poor leadership for quite some time now. And that will affect him at the next level unless he changes,” a fan said. <\/a><\/p>\n

Someone else added<\/a>: “Woof. He had multiple opportunities to rephrase it, too, but doubled then tripled down.”<\/p>\n

Another person wrote<\/a>: “He’s a front runner. He’s great when things are great, but the kid can’t take the slightest bit of adversity.”<\/p>\n

“Shocker\u2026!! No different than when he was at UGA.,” a fan reacted. <\/a><\/p>\n

One more fan commented<\/a>: “If a receiver runs the wrong route, it\u2019s the QB\u2019s fault for not being an effective communicator in the huddle. This guy is weak sauce.”<\/p>\n

Miami must now move forward and focus on its next matchup against the Stanford Cardinal, followed by games against SMU, Syracuse, N.C. State, Virginia Tech, and Pittsburgh to close out the regular season.<\/p>\n

As of now, the Hurricanes are likely to remain in the top 12, but any slip-ups over the next month against unranked opponents could dramatically alter their standings.<\/p>\n
