MIAMI \u2014 An event celebrating height is heading to South Florida, and organizers say interest has grown quickly since it began.<\/p>\n
Content creator Tyler Bergentino, founder of the Tall Tour, came to Local 10 Studios Friday to talk about the Miami stop, which is set for Saturday at Vivo inside Dolphin Mall from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re essentially gathering the tallest people in every city across America,\u201d Bergentino said. \u201cMiami, we\u2019re up next. I\u2019m very excited.\u201d<\/p>\n
The tour previously stopped in Greenville, South Carolina, which Bergentino described as a smaller, more intimate event. Miami, however, has drawn much larger interest, with about 2,200 people signed up so far.<\/p>\n
Bergentino, who stands 6-foot-9, said the events offer a rare experience for people who are often the tallest in their friend groups.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen you get a bunch of tall people all together, everyone\u2019s posture improves, and it\u2019s nice to see people eye to eye for once,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The Miami event will include a VIP section reserved for taller guests \u2014 5-foot-8 and up for women and 6-foot-1 and up for men \u2014 though Bergentino emphasized the event is open to all heights.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll sizes are welcome,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The Tall Tour has also inspired merchandise poking fun at common questions tall people hear, such as \u201cDo you play basketball?\u201d and \u201cHow\u2019s the weather up there?\u201d Bergentino said he is frequently asked about shoe size and wears a size 16.<\/p>\n
Bergentino said the idea for the tour started casually after meeting other tall men through social media, but it has grown into a national effort to create community.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy goal for this is for an airline to be like, \u2018OK, we\u2019re going to start offering exit rows for tall people,\u2019\u201d he said. \u201cIf we can do that, we\u2019re making momentum.\u201d<\/p>\n
