It took less than an hour for a Cape Coral family to have the first baby in the New Year after Cheyenne Smith gave birth to a healthy baby girl not long after the ball dropped.<\/p>\n
Rowan White was born in HealthPark in Fort Myers at 12:49 a.m. and weighed 7 pounds and 11 ounces. It is Smith\u2019s third child and first daughter. She has two sons, age 8 and 2.<\/p>\n
Smith, who spoke with her new baby sleeping in her arms, said the birth was a bit of a surprise.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe due date was the 14th\u00a0but she decided to make her entrance early and get all the attention,\u201d Smith said. \u201cI\u2019m very happy and excited and she\u2019s absolutely adorable. She came out crying, with 10 fingers and 10 toes, perfect.\u201d<\/p>\n
Her husband and the older son have always wanted a little girl, Smith said. The little brother is still a little too young to comprehend.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe older brother has been waiting for a sister for years, so he\u2019s so excited. He\u2019s a nurturer so I know he\u2019ll do great,\u201d Smith said, who added she doesn\u2019t expect any more children after this. \u201cThe 2-year-old will have to adjust.\u201d<\/p>\n
Smith said there are great advantages to being born on New Year\u2019s Day.<\/p>\n
\u201cNow, she\u2019ll get to celebrate her birthday with fireworks. It\u2019ll be exciting for her to think everyone is celebrating her,\u201d Smith said. \u201cAs far as holiday birthdays go, it\u2019s not Christmas and people don\u2019t like to share Christmas. She gets to have fireworks and celebrations for her birthday.\u201d<\/p>\n
As for births at Cape Coral Hospital, Pat Dolce, Communications Traffic Project Manager for Marketing and Communications for Lee Health, said there isn\u2019t a birth due at Cape Coral Hospital in the immediate future.<\/p>\n
