DAYTONA BEACH – Southeastern Athletic Conference action is underway as Bethune-Cookman is set to welcome the Florida A&M Rattlers to Moore Gymnasium. The Wildcats’ SWAC opener is set to begin at 3:30 p.m. EST as they aim to remain undefeated at home this season.<\/p>\n

\nEarly in the first half, the Wildcats (3-10) took a 7-2 lead over Oklahoma State (12-1) after a\u00a0Daniel Rouzan<\/a>\u00a0dunk. The Cowboys would quickly respond with a 7-0 run to take the lead a the first media timeout.<\/p>\n

The two teams would go back and forth for the next several minutes, until eventually, OSU began to increase their lead. Two free-throws by Jaylen Curry would stretch the advantage to 10 with 7:09 remaining. The Wildcats fought to keep within striking distance, but the Cowboys would go into the half up 50-38.<\/p>\n

Both B-CU and OSU shot 46.2% in the half, but the Cowboys were able to use a significant rebound advantage and five steals to generate 13 more shot attempts.<\/p>\n

Daniel Rouzan<\/a>\u00a0led the way for the Wildcats in the first with 12 points.<\/p>\n

2nd Half

\nOklahoma State never allowed B-CU back in the game as the Wildcats continued to struggle with rebounds and turnovers. The Cowboys found success getting to the free-throw line, accumulating 26 attempts in the second half alone.<\/p>\n

Quentin Heady<\/a> scored 16 points in the second and\u00a0Tyler Andrews<\/a>\u00a0had 10.<\/p>\n

The Cowboys finished off their 12th win of the season, winning 103-77.<\/p>\n

\"Scouting

\nFAMU achieved a 3-8 record in non-conference play and are currently on a three-game losing skid. The Rattlers’ three wins are against Jacksonville, Albany State, and Florida Memorial. They have yet to win a road game this season.<\/p>\n

The leading scorer for Florida A&M is senior guard Jaquon Sanders. He is averaging 11.2 points per game and is their top three-point scorer, shooting a team-high .396% on just under five attempts per contest.<\/p>\n

Redshirt senior Tyler Shirley is FAMU’s leading rebounder at 4.9 per game.<\/p>\n

The Rattlers rank toward the bottom of the country in most offensive categories including scoring offense, field goal percentage, and free-throw percentage. They also rank poorly in rebounding, but they are just outside the top 50 in steals per game.<\/p>\n

\nSaturday’s game will mark the 177th matchup in this historic rivarly. The Rattlers currently hold the edge in the series 99-77, but the Wildcats have won the previous six meetings going back to 2021.<\/p>\n
