The city has launched an online survey for residents to voice their opinions on their Sidewalk Master Plan as leaders work to outline future project funding and find out what areas need the most help.<\/p>\n

Neighbors say they’re pleased that improvements should be on the horizon, but a bulk of commenters on the city’s Facebook page argue that leaders need to focus on improving bicycle safety if they’re concerned about mobility.\u00a0<\/p>\n
“We should have sidewalks for pedestrians, we should have protected bike lanes for cyclists, and we should have plenty of room for cars too,” McCann said. “We need something that’s actually going to prevent a car from crossing into a bike lane, and that means vertical protection elements.”<\/p>\n
“The Sidewalk Master Plan will analyze gaps in the existing sidewalk and curb ramp network, developing a framework to improve safety, accessibility, and livability in St. Petersburg,” the city says. “It will outline project funding and prioritization processes, align with existing City policies, and aid in compliance while incorporating community input through public meetings and surveys.”<\/p>\n
