TAMPA, Fla. \u2014\u00a0Metropolitan Ministries<\/a> is seeking seasonal staff for its iconic holiday tents, which serve 30,000 families each holiday season. <\/p>\n

The Holiday Tent assistance program<\/a> is Tampa Bay\u2019s largest outreach initiative serving families in crisis for Thanksgiving and Christmas.<\/p>\n

Justine Burke is the Ministries Vice President of Marketing and said that each year the holiday tents serve approximately 1,000 families daily.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe do have singles that come in, seniors that are alone that want to get some food for the holidays for themselves, but the majority is families with children and if you multiply all that, by the end of it, it\u2019s almost 100,000 people,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

To ensure that they can meet the demand and be efficient, they rely on volunteers<\/a>\u00a0and seasonal workers<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s a lot of hands that come in and help us,\u201d Human Resources Director Darly Belluccia said. \u201cThis year what is new is we\u2019re expanding our mission to Pinellas County, so we\u2019re looking for team members there as well.\u201d<\/p>\n

Belluccia says Met Ministries is looking to fill 25 more positions to work through the holiday season.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Positions include outreach holiday associates to help in the tents, customer service associates to help with donations and maintenance techs to keep the tents running.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is great for college students and retirees,\u201d Belluccia said. \u201cA lot of our seasonal positions or seasonal team members have either come back here after a year or they transitioned into full-time position so it\u2019s a great way to get your foot in the door.\u201d<\/p>\n
