Ask Book Club<\/a> gathers to discuss the classic \u201cMurder on the Orient Express.\u201d<\/p>\nThe event, hosted by Marcie Horowitz, is slated for 12:30 p.m., on Tuesday, Jan. 6, at the Key Biscayne Community Center’s Lighthouse Room.<\/p>\n
The novel, which was published in 1934 and later turned into a film in 1974, features the work of private detective Hercule Poirot whose trip home to London from the Middle East is interrupted by a murder.<\/p>\n
Poirot is booked on the Taurus Express from Turkey to London and is riding along passengers including American widow Caroline Hubbard; English governess Mary Debenham; Swedish missionary Greta Ohlsson; American businessman Samuel Ratchett, with his secretary\/translator Hector MacQueen, and his English valet Edward Henry Masterman; Italian-American car salesman Antonio Foscarelli; Russian Princess Natalia Dragomiroff and her German maid Hildegarde Schmidt; Hungarian Count Rudolph Andrenyi and his wife Helena; English Colonel John Arbuthnot; American salesman Cyrus B. Hardman and Greek medical doctor Stavros Constantine.<\/p>\n
During the trip, the train is stuck in a snowdrift between Vinkovic and Brod before Poirot hears a loud thump next door.<\/p>\n
He observes a woman in a scarlet kimono going towards the washroom, then goes to sleep.<\/p>\n
