FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (CBS12) \u2014 The search continues for the suspect who shot and killed a 17-year-old boy with NFL dreams near Fort Lauderdale\u2019s beach on New Year\u2019s Eve.<\/p>\n

Josh Gipson Jr., described by friends and family as \u201ccompassionate, kind-hearted, and family-oriented,\u201d was found with a gunshot wound around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday at 17 S. Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd., Fort Lauderdale Police Sgt. Patrick O\u2019Brien told the South-Florida Sun Sentinel<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Police say Josh was rushed to Broward Health Medical Center as a trauma alert, but later succumbed to his injuries.<\/p>\n

An online fundraiser for Josh, made by his family, said he had aspirations of playing in the NFL.<\/p>\n

“The shock and pain of losing Joshua in such a sudden and senseless way has left his family and friends heartbroken,\u201d the fundraiser said.<\/p>\n

While the case is still unsolved, Sgt. O’Brien said detectives believe the shooting was isolated.<\/p>\n
