A concept by entomologist Douglas Tallamy, the \u201cBackyard Revolution\u201d encourages people to transform their yards into native habitats to combat biodiversity loss. By planting native species, homeowners can support insects \u2014 vital to the food web \u2014 and help sustain ecosystems and reverse the decline of nature. Registration is required before Jan. 7 at 9 a.m.<\/p>\n
\u2013 Jan. 13: Online Author Event with David Brooks from 2 to 3 p.m.<\/p>\n
Take part in an online conversation with acclaimed cultural writer and bestselling author David Brooks as he discusses \u201cHow to Know a Person: The Art of Seeing Others Deeply.\u201d One of the nation\u2019s leading writers and commentators, he is an op-ed columnist for The New York Times, a writer for The Atlantic, and appears regularly on PBS NewsHour. Brooks is the author of \u201cThe Second Mountain,\u201d \u201cThe Road to Character,\u201d \u201cThe Social Animal,\u201d \u201cBobos in Paradise\u201d and \u201cOn Paradise Drive.\u201d The event is part of the Online Author Events Series. Registration is required.<\/p>\n
