A man is dead after a car hit him Monday night in Fort Lauderdale and did not stop, police said.<\/p>\n
The hit-and-run happened at around 8 p.m. on West Sunrise Boulevard near NW 5th\u00a0Avenue, Fort Lauderdale Police said. Currently, police do not have any information on who the driver was or the car they were driving.<\/p>\n
Police have not released information on the man killed, but family members identified him as 70-year-old Johnnie Davis.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Davis\u2019 family showed up to the scene Monday night, trying to get answers as to what happened to their loved one.<\/p>\n
His daughter, Jazzlynn Simmons, told NBC6 that they live across the street and saw her father about an hour earlier.<\/p>\n
Simmons’ daughter came out and saw her grandfather in the road, she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy daughter was like, wow, I wonder if that can be my grandpa, so when she came down here, it was exactly her grandpa, my father, dead,\u201d Simmons said. \u201cHe’s of life and love, and I don’t understand how someone can hit my father and run like that. I just want justice for my father, and I wish someone would come forward. I just lost my mom November 6th. I’m very hurt.\u201d<\/p>\n
