PORT ST. LUCIE \u2014 A 3-year-old child drowned Friday night, according to Port St. Lucie Police. <\/p>\n
In a release from the department, police received a call around 7:30 p.m. about a drowning in the 2200 block of SW Edison Circle. <\/p>\n

Police: 3-year-old drowns at Port St. Lucie home<\/p>\n
According to police, the child’s father was feeding a 3-month-old in the home and went to put the infant to sleep. <\/p>\n
When the father went back to the kitchen, he saw the 3-year-old floating in the pool and a 4-year-old on the back patio, police said. <\/p>\n
The father jumped into the pool and then performed CPR on the child. <\/p>\n
The child was taken to Tradition Medical Center and was pronounced dead at the hospital at 8:11 p.m. <\/p>\n
Police said the pool had a safety barrier around it, but it is unknown how the 3-year-old was able to surpass the barrier and make it into the pool.<\/p>\n
