Tony Dokoupil followed up his rough opening night<\/a> in the CBS Evening News anchor\u2019s chair by gushing over Secretary of State Marco Rubio.<\/p>\n

Dokoupil concluded Tuesday night\u2019s broadcast with a segment about the \u201cmany lives and many jobs\u201d of Rubio, who is not only Secretary of State, but interim National Security Adviser, acting National Archivist, and head of the U.S. Agency for International Development.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhatever you think of his politics, you\u2019ve got to admit: it\u2019s an impressive resume,\u201d Dokoupil, 45, said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd now, AI memes have added to that portfolio, casting Secretary Rubio as the new governor of Minnesota, the new shah of Iran, the prime minister of Greenland, the new manager of Manchester United, the new head of Hilton hotels, and\u2014highest of high honors of all\u2014the new Michelin Man.” <\/p>\n

Dokoupil\u2014who was broadcasting from Miami, where he was raised\u2014added that Rubio, the former senator of Florida, has many \u201chometown fans.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMarco Rubio: we salute you,\u201d Dokoupil concluded. \u201cYou are the ultimate Florida man.\u201d<\/p>\n

CBS News has been contacted for comment.<\/p>\n

The Independent reported<\/a> that CBS Editor-in-Chief Bari Weiss is planning lighthearted segments on the nightly broadcast they\u2019re calling \u201cbon bons.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dokoupil, who joined CBS in August 2016 and was most recently co-anchor of the network\u2019s morning news program, introduced the more conservative-friendly evening news show by claiming that \u201clegacy media\u201d had mishandled stories about Hunter Biden\u2019s laptop, Hillary Clinton\u2019s emails, and \u201cthe president\u2019s fitness for office.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOn too many stories, the press has missed the story,\u201d Dokoupil said. \u201cBecause we\u2019ve taken into account the perspective of advocates and not the average American. Or we put too much weight in the analysis of academics or elites, and not enough on you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dokoupil, a former Daily Beast reporter, attended Miami\u2019s prestigious $53,000-per-year Gulliver Preparatory School, which he described in his 2014 memoir as \u201cthe best private school in South Florida.\u201d He later graduated first in his class at George Washington University, where he studied business, and then enrolled in a PhD program at Columbia University in New York City.<\/p>\n

Dokoupil met his current wife, MS NOW anchor Katy Tur, in the mid-2010s while at work at the network once known as MSNBC. They live in one of Brooklyn\u2019s most expensive enclaves with their two children.<\/p>\n

Dokoupil has two other children from a previous marriage.
