\u201cKayaking the Everglades\u201d is the first talk in a series of free Calusa Blueway Paddling Trail-related programs set for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, at the Wa-Ke Hatchee Recreation Center, 16760 Bass Road, Fort Myers.<\/p>\n
Presenter Don Rice is an American Canoe Association instructor, a U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary member and a longtime Southwest Florida paddler. His November talk and on-the-water safety training drew strong participation. The January presentation will be followed by a two-day free safety training session.<\/p>\n
\u201cPaddlers are really enjoying Don\u2019s talks and then getting on the water together,\u201d said Calusa Blueway Coordinator Mike Hammond of Lee County Parks & Recreation. \u201cThis talk will be followed up by a safety class, a kayak camping class and camping opportunities.\u201d<\/p>\n
