\n\tTony Dokoupil<\/a>\u2018s first week as \u201cCBS Evening News<\/a>\u201d anchor under Bari Weiss<\/a> continued to raise eyebrows during the new host\u2019s Tuesday half-hour, which broadcast from Miami, Fla. as part of Dokoupil\u2019s \u201cLive From America Tour\u201d to celebrate his first week on the job. Dokoupil, who was raised in Miami for a time as a child, did a companion interview<\/a> with CBS Miami and fought back tears when asked why the city is his favorite place in the world.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt makes me emotional, it\u2019s so funny,\u201d Dokoupil said as he started wiping back tears and saying \u201clet me get a second here\u201d to compose himself.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cTo help people understand why I have such a reaction\u2026 Florida is where I grew up,\u201d he continued, fighting back more tears. \u201cMy grandmother\u2019s here, my father, my mother, my aunts and uncles, cousins, and it\u2019s where I would have spent all of my childhood. But we left because my father got in trouble with business. We laugh about it now, but he was a drug dealer and he went to jail. The reason it\u2019s so emotional for me is because I feel like I was robbed of the full Miami experience.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tDuring the official broadcast, Dokoupil turned heads again by signing off with a tribute to Secretary of State and Miami\u2019s own Marco Rubio. The host acknowledged the \u201cmany lives and many jobs\u201d of Rubio, from being the face of U.S. foreign policy to \u201chis roles as interim national security advisor\u201d and more.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWhatever you think of his politics, you\u2019ve got to admit it\u2019s an impressive r\u00e9sum\u00e9,\u201d Dokoupil said before showing AI memes casting Rubio in other jobs such as the prime minister\u00a0of Greenland, the head of\u00a0Hilton Hotels and the Michelin man.<\/p>\n

\n\tDokoupil concluded with a salute to Rubio: \u201cBack in real life, of course, these memes may not add up to much, but for Rubio\u2019s hometown fans, which are many around here in Miami, it\u2019s a sign of how Florida, once an American punchline, has become a leader on the world stage. Marco Rubio, we salute you. You\u2019re the ultimate Florida man.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tEarlier in the week during Dokoupil\u2019s debut, he struggled to read a teleprompter <\/a>during an on-air gaffe and got confused over which segment he was supposed to be presenting.
