Now, Blake Investment Partners is seeking approval for additional apartments and wants to reduce the retail aspect.<\/p>\n<p>New plans call for 385 apartments, 60 of which will be housed in a mid-rise building called \u201cThe Vessel at Whitney Village,\u201d located on the parcel\u2019s northernmost side. Residential layout plans would include one-bedroom and two-bedroom units. <a href=\"https:\/\/stpeterising.com\/home\/revised-plans-proposed-for-retail-village-and-five-story-apartment-building-in-the-grand-central-district\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">St. Pete Rising<\/a> reports that the increase is tied to another project unfolding within Whitney Village, the 325-unit The Henry at Whitney Village.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-37402\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Screenshot-2026-01-07-at-11.00.10-PM.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1504\" height=\"740\"  \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">The project will be located on the east side of the Jim &amp; Heather Gills YMCA. Greystar is working with Griffin Capital to make the development possible.<\/p>\n<p>FK Architecture designed Whitney Village. George F. Young Inc. is the civil engineer. The St. Petersburg Development Review Commission intends to review plans for the expansion in February. The request to proceed with 385 residences is still under the 688-unit limit.<\/p>\n<p>Whitney Village is unfolding in St. Pete\u2019s Grand Central District on 4.5 acres of the Jim &amp; Heather Gills YMCA.
