{"id":110458,"date":"2026-01-08T15:05:11","date_gmt":"2026-01-08T15:05:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/110458\/"},"modified":"2026-01-08T15:05:11","modified_gmt":"2026-01-08T15:05:11","slug":"fort-myers-city-council-approves-new-farmers-market-lee-county","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/110458\/","title":{"rendered":"Fort Myers City Council approves new farmers market | Lee County"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A new downtown Fort Myers Farmers Market <a target=\"_blank\" class=\"Hyperlink SCXW67403971 BCX0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gulfshorebusiness.com\/lee\/fresh-produce-market-launching-in-fort-myers-in-january\/article_a56be5ee-bd41-48cb-8319-e21f98b0d99b.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">is on track to begin Jan. 17<\/a> after City Council approved a management agreement with Local Roots LLC, which operates markets across Southwest Florida.<\/p>\n<p>The market is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. along First Street from Monroe to Broadway, and from Broadway to Main Street. It is expected to run from January through at least April, organizers said, potentially with a smaller footprint in the off-season.<\/p>\n<p>Local Roots signed up 42 vendors for the market\u2019s debut, 78% of whom are agricultural or food vendors. The city\u2019s contract with Local Roots runs for two years with three one-year renewal options.
