TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Two more proposals are set to be considered as amendments to Leon County\u2019s constitution after the county\u2019s charter review committee\u2019s final meeting Thursday.<\/p>\n
These proposals regarding affordable housing and a healthcare are the most recently advanced proposals. The committee also previously advanced a food security proposal<\/a> among other proposed charter amendments.<\/p>\n The affordable housing proposal seeks to bring back potential language to make affordable housing a charter (constitutional) right. Despite staff\u2019s recommendation, the committee voted 12-3 to advance the proposal.<\/p>\n The proposal also seeks to make a housing trust fund permanent but the committee can still resort to making a policy recommendation.<\/p>\n More Tallahassee news:<\/p>\n A healthcare funding amendment was also proposed that would \u201ccodify\u201d Leon County\u2019s commitment to healthcare. The staff recommended against the proposal saying they\u2019ve raised funding for CareNet 15% over the year already. <\/p>\n In the end, the committee voted unanimously to advance the charter. <\/p>\n These were presented in the committees last day of considering proposed Leon County charter amendments.
