It\u2019s officially time to check out Mise en Place<\/a>\u2019s new, um, place.<\/p>\n The Tampa restaurant, founded 40 years ago on Platt Street, said goodbye to its last address on Halloween and quietly reopened a much-anticipated Ybor City location <\/a>late last year.<\/p>\n \u201cWe just didn\u2019t really announce it, we just let people find out,\u201d Maryann Ferenc, who opened the Tampa staple with Chef Marty Blitz, told Creative Loafing Tampa Bay. The goal, she explained, was to keep staff from being overwhelmed.<\/p>\n \u201cWe were trying to make sure that we could put forth the best possible Mise that we could,\u201d she said, adding that there were some holiday parties and sold-out New Year\u2019s events.<\/p>\n Now it\u2019s time for the rest of us to dig in.<\/p>\n Mise en Place<\/a>\u2014now located on the ground floor at 1229 E 8th Ave. on Ybor City\u2019s Casa Gomez block where the trolley turns south towards Channelside\u2014hosts a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, Jan. 9. Tampa Mayor Jane Castor is expected to be there along with Gasworx developer and Casa Ybor CEO Darryl Shaw.<\/p>\n The space, Ferenc told CL, seats about 130 people within the main dining room, bar and private dining area. Ferenc is also a dog person and said that patio and outdoor seating will eventually come.<\/p>\n For now, Mise en Place is open Tuesday-Saturday, with a cocktail hour from 4 p.m.-6 p.m. Dinner service starts at 5 p.m., with the restaurant closing at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday and at 11 p.m. on Friday-Saturday.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re hoping to get people to learn to dine later in Tampa\u2014if not in Ybor City, then where?,\u201d she said<\/p>\n Thursday-Friday lunch service will be added in February along with Saturday-Sunday brunch.<\/p>\n Blitz, she said, loves his new kitchen, which is actually a third of the size of the one at Mise\u2019s last location on the block across from University of Tampa.<\/p>\n \u201cHe actually said, \u2018Well, this is more efficient than my other one.\u2019 And we\u2019re like, \u2018Wow, OK, this couldn\u2019t be better,\u201d Ferenc noted. \u201cWe\u2019re so lucky.\u201d<\/p>\n Blitz is in a place where he\u2019s doing exactly what he wants and even experimenting with the happy hour menu while still serving his and customers\u2019 favorites.<\/p>\n And soon, she added, Mise is \u201cgoing to do a couple of other things right in our corner of the world, to try and activate the ground the street level even more.\u201d<\/p>\n Last summer, Ferenc told CL that being on the rooftop of Casa Gomez lets her feel the energy in the historic district.
