Two cheer teams from Cape Coral have become national champions, hailing from the same program. The Cape Junior Sharks Varsity and Mighty Mite cheer teams claimed their Pop Warner titles in Charlotte.<\/p>\n
Now, they’re preparing to compete on the global stage.<\/p>\n
“We all just got up and jumped and cheered and it was just the best moment,” said Julie Kile, a Cape Jr. Sharks Mighty Mite cheerleader.<\/p>\n
Both the Mighty Mite and Varsity cheer squads returned home as national champions.<\/p>\n
“Some people never experience that in their life,” said Xiomara Coachman, Cape Jr. Sharks Varsity Cheer Assistant Coach.<\/p>\n
Two teams, two titles.<\/p>\n
“People don’t even know where Cape Coral is. They only know the main places in Florida. So the fact that we’re on the map for this is great,” said Coachman.<\/p>\n
For the members of the Mighty Mite team, this was their first time winning a national title.<\/p>\n
“I’ve been cheering with Cape Jr. my entire life. Some of these girls have been with me all my life. It’s very special we get to accomplish all these things together,” said Malaya Anderson, a Cape Jr. Sharks Mighty Mite cheerleader.<\/p>\n
For the Varsity team, this year saw them combine two teams and move up.<\/p>\n
“We went from going from level three to four. So it was a big step and it was new to all of us. Going through that and really working towards that with our whole team made that memorable,” said Ashley Punyahotra, a Cape Jr. Sharks Varsity cheerleader.<\/p>\n
Both teams are not done yet, as they are heading to Globals.<\/p>\n
“It’s a full circle moment now going all the way through the season together,” said Jarusha Van Wert, Cape Jr. Sharks Cheer Director and Mighty Mite Level 2 Coach.<\/p>\n
