The Sanibel-Captiva Rotary Club welcomed Children\u2019s Advocacy Center of Southwest Florida Chief Executive Officer Alicia Shannon as its guest speaker at a recent meeting. The center\u2019s mission is to create a safe and nurturing space for youths affected by abuse and neglect, where they can share their stories, heal and thrive with comprehensive support. Founded in 1981, it serves Lee, Charlotte, Hendry and Glades counties. The center provides a child protection team, family advocacy, family alliance, prevention, community awareness, and outreach\/Beesley\u2019s Paw Prints \u2014 all of the services are free. This past year, it provided 755 medical exams and 2,375 hours of therapy and served 7,588 clients. The club meets on Fridays at 7:30 a.m. at The Community House, at 2173 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel.
