In January 2018, JWB and our partners launched\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sleepbabysafely.com\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Sleep Baby Safely<\/a>, a campaign driven by local data featuring consistent messaging, coordinated materials, and educational training. The goal is to prevent and eliminate infant sleep-related suffocation deaths.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"480\" height=\"257\" alt=\"baby sleeping in crib\" class=\"wp-image-386 lazyload\" title=\"Sleep Baby Safely 1\" data-eio=\"p\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/baby-crib-bars-1.png\"  data- data-eio-rwidth=\"480\" data-eio-rheight=\"257\"\/><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"480\" height=\"257\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/baby-crib-bars-1.png\" alt=\"baby sleeping in crib\" class=\"wp-image-386\" title=\"Sleep Baby Safely 1\"   data-eio=\"l\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"\">In 2018 and 2019, 12,908 parents and caregivers received safe sleep education and materials; 556 first responders were trained and equipped with campaign materials for direct on-scene education; and 269 medical personnel were trained and provided with campaign materials to deliver a consistent message. Today, 54 partner agencies continue to work collectively on the campaign, and 6,000+ Welcome Baby Bags are given out annually to parents of newborns at Pinellas County birthing hospitals, alongside intentional face-to-face safe sleep education.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The message is being spread that these deaths are caused by suffocation, not SIDS, due to babies sleeping unsafely \u2013 and it\u2019s 100% preventable.
