Old Burnt Store serves as a major north-south route through northwest Cape Coral, connecting various neighborhoods and commercial areas to surrounding streets.<\/p>\n<p>Several deadly crashes in 2025 prompted residents to demand action. City leaders responded by cutting the limit, hoping to protect everyone who travels this road.<\/p>\n<p>New signs went up throughout the affected area. Bright flags will hang on these signs for 30 days, catching drivers&#8217; eyes and reminding them to ease off the gas pedal.<\/p>\n<p>Police will watch how drivers respond. Officers can now ticket anyone exceeding 40 mph in this zone, and authorities warn motorists to obey the new posted speed.<\/p>\n<p>City officials announced the change this week.
