Erik Levasseurwas <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wptv.com\/news\/treasure-coast\/region-st-lucie-county\/port-st-lucie\/port-st-lucie-police-sgt-erik-levasseur-released-from-the-hospital-37-days-after-he-was-shot\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">discharged from HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital<\/a> in Fort Pierce on Wednesday, 37 days after he was shot in the face Dec. 1.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Police will brief the media at about 3:30 p.m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">It&#8217;s unclear if Levasseur will attend the news conference.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The sergeant was <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wptv.com\/news\/treasure-coast\/region-st-lucie-county\/port-st-lucie\/port-st-lucie-police-officer-shot-transported-to-hospital\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">shot in the face<\/a> while responding to a call in the 11000 block of Southwest Lake Park Drive last month. The gunman, Frankie Salvatore Riccio, 32, was killed after shooting Levasseur.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Levasseur had multiple surgeries to repair facial injuries, had a wired jaw and was relying on a tracheotomy, according to police.<\/p>\n<p class=\"copyright |\">Copyright 2026 Scripps Media, Inc.
