SANIBEL-CAPTIVA CONSERVATION FOUNDATION

The Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation (SCCF) was awarded $15,000 in grant funds from the Sanibel-Captiva Shell Club (SCSC). Its Coastal Watch, Sanibel Sea School and Marine Laboratory will each receive a $5,000 grant. The funding for Coastal Watch will support a volunteer-driven oyster restoration project in the Tarpon Bay. The Sanibel Sea School grant will support A Week in the Field, a free camp that introduces local high school students to hands-on environmental research. The funding for the Marine Laboratory will support a new study analyzing the sea slug Oxynoe antillarum\u2019s ability to forage on macroalgae Caulerpa fastigiata, which has been increasing in the Matlacha Pass and is potentially associated with seagrass decline.<\/p>\n
