January 9, 2026 Women: #10 Florida 174 \u2014 #15 LSU 87 Florida swept LSU on Friday in both teams\u2019 first dual meets since the midseason invitationals. Both Florida teams will move to 4-1 for the season.<\/p>\n Women\u2019s Meet Recap<\/p>\n The Gators started with a win in the 200 medley relay. Catie Choate<\/a> led off in 24.80 for backstroke. Anita Bottazzo<\/a> swam 26.83 on the breaststroke. Beatriz Bezerra<\/a> split 24.09 on the fly, and Addison Reese<\/a> anchored in 23.07 to bring the team home in 1:38.79. They came in a little more than a second ahead of LSU\u2019s 1:41.11. The LSU women have been 1:35.06 this season while Florida has been 1:35.93<\/p>\n Backstroker Choate went on to win both the 100 and 200 backstroke events, swimming 52.76 in the 100 and 1:54.52 in the 200, missing her season best times of 51.53 and 1:51.52.<\/p>\n Bottazzo, who swam the breaststroke leg, won the 100 breast in 59.35, coming in more than two seconds ahead of teammate Molly Mayne<\/a>, who finished 2nd overall. Bottazzo currently leads the nation in the 100 breast with her 56.87 from Florida\u2019s meet with Virginia.<\/p>\n Mayne went on to win the 200 breaststroke in 2:14.21, which was a little more than five seconds off her season best of 2:08.65.<\/p>\n Reese won the 200 butterfly in 1:59.75, coming in almost two seconds ahead of teammate Lainy Kruger<\/a>\u2018s 2:01.72. Both have been faster this season with Reese\u2019s season best coming in at 1:56.28 and Kruger sitting at 1:55.71.<\/p>\n Florida also had a few two event winners that were not on the 200 medley relay. Sophomore Julie Brousseau<\/a> won both distance freestyle events, swimming 9:47.47 in the 1000 and 4:49.42 in the 500 to pick up 18 points for the Gators.<\/p>\n Junior Lainy Kruger<\/a> won the 200 free and 100 fly for Florida. In the 200 free, she swam 1:48.60 to come in almost exactly a second ahead of Megan Barnes<\/a> from LSU, who swam 1:49.59 for 2nd. In the 100 fly, she swam 54.71 to outtouch Bezerra\u2019s 54.76 for 2nd place.<\/p>\n The final event winner for the Gators was freshman Grace Rabb<\/a>, who swam 2:01.99 to take the top spot in the 200 IM ahead of Brousseau\u2019s 2:02.44. This was Brousseau\u2019s 1st time swimming the event this season, while Rabb was off her season best of 1:55.29.<\/p>\n LSU won three events over the course of the meet with senior sprinter Michaela De Villiers<\/a> being partially or fully responsible for all three.<\/p>\n De Villiers started with the top time in the 50 freestyle of 22.84, coming in six tenths ahead of Bezerra\u2019s 23.44 for Florida in 2nd.<\/p>\n She went on to win the 100 free in 50.50, a little more than half-a-second ahead of Florida\u2019s Reese, who finished 2nd in 51.16.<\/p>\n LSU also won the final event of the meet, the women\u2019s 200 freestyle relay. There are no splits for the middle 100, but the team of Avery Littlefield<\/a> (23.51), De Villiers, Anastasia Bako<\/a>, and Sabrina Lyn<\/a> (23.01) swam 1:32.24 to come in more than a second ahead of Florida\u2019s 1:33.47.<\/p>\n Men\u2019s Recap<\/p>\n Florida also won most of the events on the men\u2019s side, though they dropped both relays to LSU.<\/p>\n Giovanni Linscheer<\/a> picked up the Gators\u2019 first event win with his 9:07.30 in the 1000 free coming in a little more than three seconds ahead of LSU\u2019s Jacob Pishko<\/a>, who swam 9:10.61 for 2nd. Florida\u2019s Ahmed Jaouadi<\/a> was disqualified after swimming 9:03.72.<\/p>\n Linscheer also won the 500 freestyle, swimming 4:24.76 to just outtouch teammate Eric Brown<\/a> who came back hard to swim 4:24.97 after outsplitting Linscheer 24.87 to 25.37 on the final 50.<\/p>\n Brown won two events during the meet as well, taking the top spot in the 200 free with his 1:38.10 beating teammate Paul Dardis<\/a>\u2018 1:38.68 by almost seven tenths. In the 200 IM, he swam 1:48.57 to come in a tenth ahead of teammate Aiden Norman<\/a>\u2018s 1:48.70. This was only Brown\u2019s 2nd time swimming the 200 IM, and he set a new best time, dropping from the 1:51.94 he swam in October of 2022.<\/p>\n Florida\u2019s Aleksas Savickas<\/a> won the 100 and 200 breaststroke events, swimming 54.52 in the 100 to come in one-hundredth ahead of teammate Koen de Groot<\/a>\u2018s 54.53. LSU\u2019s Volodymyr Lisovets<\/a> was just two hundredths behind de Groot with his 54.55 for 3rd.<\/p>\n He swam 1:59.19 in the 200 breast to be the only swimmer under 2:00 in the event, coming in more than two seconds ahead of Florida freshman Nil Cadevall<\/a>\u2018s 2:01.63.<\/p>\n Aiden Norman<\/a> won the men\u2019s 200 backstroke for the Gators, swimming 1:44.15 for the top time by more than four seconds over Florida teammate Caleb Maldari<\/a>.<\/p>\n Josh Liendo<\/a> was Florida\u2019s final individual event winner, taking the men\u2019s 100 fly, touching in 46.38 to win by more than two seconds over LSU\u2019s Caleb Ellis<\/a>, who swam 48.55 for 2nd.<\/p>\n LSU won both relays, starting with the men\u2019s 200 medley where their team of Stepan Goncharov<\/a> (21.62), Volodymyr Lisovets<\/a> (23.94), Diggory Dillingham<\/a> (21.56), and Jere Hribar<\/a> (18.51) swam 1:25.63, coming in four tenths ahead of Florida\u2019s 2nd place 1:26.08.<\/p>\n They also won the 200 freestyle relay with Dillingham (20.64), Hribar (19.11), Goncharov (19.90), and Andrew Garon<\/a> (19.94) swimming 1:19.59 to touch more than a second ahead of Florida.<\/p>\n The Tigers also had a few individual event wins, led by Hribar winning the 50 and 100 freestyles.
