TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Big Bend Hospice will soon expand its services to include Jackson, Calhoun, and Gulf counties, according to the organization. <\/p>\n
\u201cThis territory is way more than a growth initiative,\u201d Big Bend Hospice Chief Operating Officer Amanda Gustafson said. \u201cIt\u2019s about access and equity in healthcare.\u201d <\/p>\n
Gustafson said many rural communities have fewer healthcare resources and face delays in receiving care. <\/p>\n

\u201cWith this expansion, we\u2019re really bringing hospice services to these rural counties so that they can stay at home and have end of life care in their homes,\u201d she said. \u201cReally reduce stress in the families and allow patients to be cared for where they\u2019re most comfortable, which is in their homes.\u201d <\/p>\n
To celebrate the expansion, Big Bend Hospice will have a ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday at 9:30 CST. The gathering will be at the Blountstown Magnolia Square Gazebo Complex. <\/p>\n
