ATHENS, Ga. \u2013 The No. 12\/NR Florida State swimming and diving team fell to No. 7\/18 Georgia and Arkansas on Saturday afternoon at Gabrielsen Natatorium in Athens, Georgia.

\nIn the team’s second competition in five days to begin 2026, the Seminoles posted seven wins, including one relay. Sophomore Michel Arkhangelsky<\/a> led the way with two individual victories. Sophomore Alice Velden<\/a> also won two events, one individual and one relay.
\n\u00a0
\n“We had some really good highs today, and a few lows too,” FSU head coach Neal Studd<\/a> said. “Winning events and the women’s relay win was awesome. We are looking forward to getting back to work and taking on Florida next.”

\nThe FSU men were bested by No. 7 Georgia 183.5-114.5, while the women lost to the 18th-ranked Bulldogs 170-116 and to Arkansas 195-101.

\nArkhangelsky’s first win came in the 50 freestyle, touching the wall in 19.64, before he took first in the 100 freestyle with a time of 42.92. Arkhangelsky also added a second-place finish in the 100 butterfly (46.72).

\nFlorida State opened the competition with a win in the women’s 200 medley relay, as the team of Velden, freshman Martina Fanunza<\/a> and sophomores Maryn McDade<\/a> and Mary Leigh Hardman<\/a> combined for a first-place finish in 1:37.72. The men’s team of seniors Maz Wilson and Tommaso Baravelli<\/a>, Arkhangelsky and senior Sam Bork<\/a> finished second in 1:24.60.

\nVelden recorded an individual win in the 100 backstroke, winning in 53.76. McDade took second in the 50 freestyle in 22.23.

\nIn the 100 breaststroke, Baravelli (53.63) and freshman Liam O’Connor<\/a> (54.26) finished first and second while sophomore Mathias Christensen<\/a> added a Seminole win in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 1:57.15.

\nSophomore diver Hayden Schroeder<\/a> led the team on springboard with a win on 1-meter thanks to a score of 335.25. Redshirt senior Kayleigh Clark<\/a> (319.95) and sophomore Carlos Vargas<\/a> (347.20) both were second on 3-meter, with Vargas recording a personal-best.
