ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) \u2014 Police in St. Petersburg have arrested a man more than two months after a pedestrian was struck and seriously injured in an early-morning crash.<\/p>\n
Investigators say Adam Rosema was behind the wheel of a white Ford Mustang around 1 a.m. on Nov. 8, heading south on Fourth Street South near Second Avenue South.<\/p>\n
Authorities say a woman was walking westbound on Second Avenue South and entered the crosswalk at Fourth Street South against the traffic signal.<\/p>\n
Police say another driver in front of Rosema noticed the pedestrian and slowed down to let her cross.<\/p>\n
According to court records, dash camera video captured Rosema telling a passenger to watch what his car could do.<\/p>\n
\u201cRosema sped, did an improper lane change, ran a red light and crashed into our victim,\u201d said Ashley Limardo with the St. Petersburg Police Department.<\/p>\n
Police identified the victim as 28-year-old Alison Brandt.<\/p>\n
Limardo told 8 On Your Side there were no signs of impaired driving and Rosema remained at the scene.<\/p>\n
Brandt suffered life-threatening injuries, including multiple fractures and a dissected vein in her brain.<\/p>\n
She was taken to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital for treatment.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou have to listen. There are tickets that you can get for running, red light for speeding and all sorts of things. Tickets can now be more expensive, and sometimes it\u2019s just not worth a life or paying the money,\u201d Limardo said.<\/p>\n
8 On Your Side asked Limardo why it took two months for an arrest to be made.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt does take a little bit of time because there\u2019s some investigations, we have to see \u2014 was was the light working? Was the pedestrian using the traffic signal and all those sorts of things and whatever other evidence we can find through surveillance cameras as well,\u201d Limardo explained.<\/p>\n
Rosema is charged with racing on a highway and reckless driving resulting in serious bodily injury.<\/p>\n
Court records show his bond was set at $15,500<\/p>\n
The investigation is ongoing.<\/p>\n
