{"id":11518,"date":"2025-10-19T22:54:08","date_gmt":"2025-10-19T22:54:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/11518\/"},"modified":"2025-10-19T22:54:08","modified_gmt":"2025-10-19T22:54:08","slug":"family-seeks-justice-after-man-killed-in-pompano-beach-hit-and-run","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/11518\/","title":{"rendered":"Family seeks justice after man killed in Pompano Beach hit-and-run"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text text--small text--normal text--primary\">Published:\u00a0October 19, 2025 at 6:36 PM<\/p>\n<p>Family seeks justice after man killed in Pompano Beach hit-and-run <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">POMPANO BEACH, Fla. \u2014 A grieving family is calling for justice after 40-year-old Joey Henriquez was fatally struck in a hit-and-run crash in Pompano Beach on October 12th.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">According to authorities, Henriquez was walking his bicycle across the 2600 block of North Palm Aire Drive early Sunday morning when he was hit by a Chevy Trailblazer. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The driver, identified by police as Sholom Marcus, initially fled the scene. Investigators say Marcus briefly returned, but then left again without offering help or waiting for police.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Henriquez suffered a severe brain injury and was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead by Monday night.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Marcus was later arrested and now faces criminal charges for failing to remain at the scene of the crash.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Joey\u2019s sister, Michelle Zymet, is heartbroken and demanding accountability.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cWhy would you leave my brother there lying on the floor? Did you not know you hit someone or something?\u201d she said. \u201cJust take accountability, take responsibility for your actions.
