While walking and looking for olive shells, she felt something under her heel and happened to look back. She reported that she saw an unusual spotted shell sticking out of the sand and did not know what it was, only that it was very different than the others she had collected. As Hall was showing it to her family members, a child nearby overheard her describing the \u201ccool spotted shell.\u201d He told her that she had found a junonia and shared information about the shell. Hall expressed gratitude to the boy for helping to identify it. She added that it was her first trip to Captiva. Hall was visiting the island with her husband, Paul, and his family, who used to visit Captiva regularly in the 1990s.
